The Friends of the Oberlin College Libraries provide financial support that significantly strengthens the collections and services of the libraries beyond what would otherwise be possible.
Membership contributions are used for acquisitions in all curricular areas. Other contributions make possible several scholarships to current students and alumni who are attending graduate school in library and information science. The Friends also fund the Alison Ricker Research Award, which recognizes student excellence in scholarship that makes good use of library resources. The Friends sponsor numerous programs that enrich the cultural life of the community and that stimulate greater awareness of books and their role in society and culture, including Book Talks, special outreach events, and the Annual Oberlin Edible Book Festival.
Membership benefits for contributions over $100 (individual) or $150 (couple):
- Invitations to Friends events
- OhioLink and SearchOhio Print Borrowing (up to five items at one time)
- In-house use of all databases, journals, and e-resources
