The Friends of the Oberlin College Libraries provide financial support that significantly strengthens the collections and services of the libraries beyond what would otherwise be possible.
The majority of funds received as membership contributions are used for special acquisitions for the libraries in all curricular areas. Other contributions are used to fund the Research Award, which recognizes student excellence in research utilizing library resources, and to award scholarships to current students and alumni who are attending graduate school in library and information science. The Friends also sponsor numerous programs that enrich the cultural life of the community and that stimulate greater awareness of books and their role in society and culture.
Programs, important acquisitions, and more are reported in Library Perspectives, the Friends of the Oberlin College Libraries newsletter. View all issues of Library Perspectives in Digital Commons at Oberlin, the Libraries' institutional repository.
