Overview
A library exhibition of Transatlantic string instruments from the Frederick R. Selch and Roderic C. Knight collections; librettos, scores, broadsides, and ephemera from Special Collections in the Conservatory Library and Terrell Main Library, including the Antislavery collection; and circulating recent scholarship on the Black Transatlantic.
The special concert performance of Omar on December 6, 2024 at Oberlin, conducted and performed by Oberlin alumni and current students, follows its staged performances by its commissioning opera companies. Based on the life of the Fula Muslim scholar Omar ibn Said عمر بن سعيد (c.1770–1864), Omar won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2023.
