Overview
Ten students offer interpretations of archival holdings from the Neumann jazz collection, including nightclub noisemakers, an inscribed silk scarf, and manuscript music. Topics include the Cotton Club in Harlem, jazz and propaganda, bossa nova, and jazz careers.
These projects were conducted in MUSY 360, taught by Dr. John P. Hasselback III. Through guided workshops, lectures, and study, students gained experiences in the archive including photography, digitization, description, and intellectual and physical organization.
