OhioLink Lending Pause Begins May 23
April 15, 2025
As part of the library system migration, the library catalogs used for OhioLink (Ohio academic libraries) and SearchOhio (some Ohio public libraries) will undergo summer and fall updates that will restrict lending. OhioLink books checked out under the old catalog will not be transferred to the new system - they must be returned to their home library by the assigned due date and requested again through Search Libraries.
Please consult the schedule below to determine the most effective renewal and re-request schedule for items needed through the summer and fall. Library liaisons, Research Help, and circulation are available to answer questions and help you strategize.
-
5pm May 23 - Deadline to request or renew any OhioLink and SearchOhio books for May and June 2025. All materials will be due at the due date assigned as of May 23. Renew your items shortly before May 23 to keep them as far into June as possible.
-
June 27 - OhioLink lending resumes under the new system. You may begin requesting items needed for July and later through Search Libraries.
-
Fall 2025, exact date to be determined - SearchOhio lending resumes.
This pause only applies to OhioLink and SearchOhio items. Oberlin College and InterLibrary Loan requests for books held by libraries outside the state of Ohio will continue to circulate through the OhioLink pause. However, it is unlikely that InterLibrary Loan requests for books typically available in OhioLink libraries placed during the lending pause will arrive before the pause is over. ILL requests for books held in OhioLink libraries will only be approved if the need for access between May 23 and June 27 is high and the book will actually arrive fast enough to meet that need.
