Check It Out: "T" Call Numbers In the Art Library
April 01, 2024
In Library of Congress classification, the T section, which is divided into 16 subclasses, is where materials about technology are classed. Many of those familiar with the Art Library will know that the TR section is where you will find books on photography, but did you ever wonder what materials are in some of the other T sections?
What Types of Books Can I Check Out?
- TG is where you'll find materials on bridge engineering, like Medieval Bridges by Martin Cook or Brooklyn Bridge: Fact and Symbol by Alan Trachtenberg.
- If you're a car guy, you might want to head over to the TL's, which is the motor vehicle section. This is where you will find Pump and Circumstance: Glory Days of the Gas Station by John Margolies.
- TN is the section for mining engineering and metallurgy, including some local sandstone mining history. Check out Sandstone Center of the World: Images & Stories of Quarry Life in Amherst, South Amherst, & Lorain County, Ohio by James A. Hieb.
- If arts and crafts are your thing, definitely stop by the TT area. You'll find books like Women, Art & Geometry in South Africa by Paulus Gerdes and The Foundations of Woodworking by Michael Pekovich.
- Foodies and travelers should make their way to the home economics section, TX, to check out books on cooking and nutrition, hospitality, and RV life, such as Cool Tools: Cooking Utensils from the Japanese Kitchen by Kate Klippensteen and Hometown Diners by Robert O. Williams.
