Community

The Oberlin College Libraries invites members of the general public to enjoy our cafe and make use of our free events and resources.

 

Azariah's Café in the Mary Church Terrell Main Library

Community members may purchase food and beverage items from Azariah's Café via debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

 

Borrowing Privileges

If you are not currently a student or employee of Oberlin College, you may borrow materials if you are:

  • An adult (age 18 or older) who lives or works in Lorain County (written proof of address/employment required)
  • A graduate of Oberlin College living in Cuyahoga, Ashland, Erie, Huron, Medina, Summit, Portage, or Wayne counties
  • A current member of the Friends of the Oberlin College Libraries
  • The child of an Oberlin College employee (aged 14-17), a youth or adult participant in an Oberlin College educational program in which the resources of the libraries are needed to complete the program
  • The valid library card for Oberlin residents is an Oberlin Public Library card. Other borrowers may be issued a courtesy card from the Oberlin College Libraries. Alumni ID cards are not valid as Oberlin College library cards.

All borrowers must first register at the Mary Church Terrell Main Library's (in the Mudd Center) circulation desk and provide proof of their current address (driver's license, utility bill, etc.).

 

Events of the Libraries

The majority of the Oberlin College Libraries' author events and programs are free and open to the general public. Our events are publicized on our calendar and via social media.

 

Meeting Space for Non-Profit Community Organizations

At the discretion of the Director of Libraries, non-profit community organizations may request to utilize our meeting spaces within the Mary Church Terrell Main Library. Feel free to email libdirec@oberlin.edu for more information.

Community members may also contact the Oberlin Public Libraries to inquire about their community meeting spaces.
