About Library Instruction


We are here to support your teaching and assist students in developing essential information literacy skills, engaging with our significant collection of primary sources, and learning how to engage in digital scholarship practices and use digital tools.
What do we mean by support? There are many ways to collaborate at Oberlin.
Instruction services
Course-integrated information literacy instruction
Session designed for a specific course and assignment to support students’ development of research and information literacy skills
- Fly-by: 15-20 min. class visits to provide a general overview of the library or a specific resource
- Integrated: 50-75 min. customized class sessions designed to support a specific assignment or set of learning outcomes
Online research guides
Customized to support an assignment or course goals with specific resources and supplementary materials
Library tutorials
Focused on specific search strategies, concepts, and resources that support flipped instruction or supplement in-person class sessions
Collaborate on assignment design
Work with a librarian or archivist to design an assignment that meets your goals and allows students to take advantage of the Libraries’ collections.
