Study Carrels
Application for Art Library Long Term Carrels
Assignment of carrels will be made in anticipation of substantial and steady use by Honors Students, Art Faculty, and Allen Memorial Art Museum staff. If you do not use a carrel regularly, please do not request an assignment. If requests exceed the number of available carrels, we will email you.
Carrel regulations
- Items on carrels should be checked out to the carrel and contain a completed pink “Carrel Charge Slip.” Items found on carrels without pink slips are reshelved.
- Non-circulating / Library Use Only items may be checked out to carrels with approval by permanent staff. Exceptions include titles in Reference, Open Reserve, and loose periodicals.
- Protecting books from harm: Please use book ends. Heat vents and sunlight harm books, so do not lay books on the window ledges.
- Do not leave valuables in your carrels. The library is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. If you have personal books that you wish to keep in the library, you may keep them behind the circulation desk to prevent theft.
- Books checked out to carrels are alarmed to deter theft.
- Taking carrel items out of the library: At the Circulation Desk, check-in the book from your carrel, then check it out to your OCID.
- Please check-in carrel items at the end of the semester.
- Carrels are reserved on a semester basis. Let us know if you want your carrel renewed for the upcoming semester.
