Overview
The Oberlin College Archives holds a collection of over 450 objects relevant to the history of the College and its faculty, staff, and graduates.
Out of the Box, a semi-permanent exhibit, is a selection of some of the most interesting objects in the Archives’ collection. Some of these reflect the international nature of the work of missionaries trained in the College’s Graduate School of Theology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and that of the Oberlin Shansi Memorial Association. The exhibit is installed in the Archives and Special Collections reading room on the fourth floor of the Terrell Main Library. See the exhibition catalog for images of the exhibit and descriptions of the objects. All objects and artworks in the Archives (except those within discrete collections) have been photographed and made available as a digital collection in the Archives Museum Collection.
