OBIS Catalog Maintenance 10/18/21

October 12, 2021

Red box with white type saying Service Alert in front of machine background.

UPDATE: OBIS maintenance is complete. Please report any issues with accessing library services.

OBIS, the Oberlin College Libraries online catalog, will be offline for maintenance beginning at 11am on Monday, October 18, 2021.

The OBIS server will be migrated to a cloud-hosted environment and will not be accessible during a 4–6 hour maintenance period. Library users will not be able to make requests for items, log in to their library record, or use the proxy service during maintenance. Off-campus users can use the VPN to access most electronic resources.

The Libraries will also be testing services for a period after the maintenance window. We ask that users please plan accordingly.

Obtaining Materials

The Libraries will be open! During the maintenance period, users will be able to check out materials. Use the OhioLINK Central Catalog to find call numbers for our collections (Note: use the Advanced Search and select Oberlin College from the Location list). Those call numbers can be used to find materials in our stacks that can be checked out at our circulation desks.

Off-campus access to electronic resources will also be affected. Oberlin students, faculty and staff may use the college VPN (Virtual Private Network) as an alternative to the proxy server. For more information about the VPN, please see our Off Campus Access page.

As always, questions about accessing our materials and resources can be answered with our Ask a Librarian service.

Thank you for your patience.
